The LOOK: Winter Hair Fixes

Too dry or not too dry, that is the question!
By this time of year our skin and our hair is all dried out. Even though it hasn't been that cold (much less snowy!), the weather does dry out, and we're also driving in our cars with the heat turned up. That can do some damage over the weeks.
How to battle the dry? Focus on moisturizers that benefit our hair and skin, but do your research! Most moisturizers include in their ingredients chemicals that dry us out even more than the dry heat, so we can be adding to our dry skin and hair even though we think we are helping. All the more reason to do your research—a good hair and skin regimen is worth it when you start seeing results and getting compliments. That's priceless.

1. When it comes to your hair, use a deep penetrating hair masque.
Even if you have to make one in a pinch, leave on your hair for at least 10 to 15 mins wrap hair to keep your body heat in for processing. Do this at least once a week.
2. For your skin, get rid of your soap.
Most soaps can dry you out before you moisturize out of shower. Still, damp-apply your lotion and do your research—there shouldn't be alchohol or parabens in your lotions. Most health food stores have great lotions without the risky chemicals.
3. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.
Water is a must. Steam, for example, is great, whether in the shower or out. Boil water on the stove, then steam your skin with that by leaning over pot with towel over head to trap steam in. MAKE SURE the heat is off before you begin!
