Stock Market Explodes — Dow Up More than 1,000

It was a big day on Wall Street. Oil prices and U.S. stocks surged on Wednesday.

In a dramatic day or trading, the benchmark S&P 500 index climbed 5 percent, it’s best one-day rally since March 2009.

The Dow finished Wednesday up more than 1,085 points.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average also gained 5 percent, while the Nasdaq Composite jumped 5.9 per cent.

Wednesday stood in stark contrast on Christmas Eve when the market lost 700 points.

Amazon was up 9.45 percent, Faceboopercent more than 8.1 percent, and Twitter was up more than 8.3 percent.

Locally, CVS was up near 4 percent and Hasbro’s stock jumped 3.9 percent.

Losers were far and few between — Tesla was down 1 percent and WPRO’s parent company Cumulus was down 2.3 percent.
