18-Year-Old Female Victim of “Strong-Armed Robbery” in Downtown Providence

An 18-year-old female reported being the victim of a strong-armed robbery in downtown Providence on Friday. 

About Incident 

Police were called to Exchange Terrace shortly before 7 PM on Friday for a report of a robbery.

According to police, the female victim said she was crossing Exchange Street when she was grabbed from behind — and the suspect covered her mouth to stop her from screaming.

The victim told police the suspect — a male approximately 6 feet tall wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and a mask — stole her headphones off her head and took her purse, and then fled on foot.

Detectives are currently investigating.
