UPDATED: Extreme Heat Warning Hitting RI Says National Weather Service

Get ready for some blistering heat. The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for Sunday through Tuesday.

This is a heat wave.

"What is a heat wave? A heat wave is a period of abnormally hot weather generally lasting more than two days. Heat waves can occur with or without high humidity. They have the potential to cover a large area, exposing a high number of people to hazardous heat," according to the National Weather Service.

Sunday Night
Partly cloudy, with a low around 75. Northwest wind 3 to 7 mph.

 

Monday
It will be mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 95. The wind will be light and variable, becoming south around 6 mph in the morning.

 

Monday Night
Partly cloudy, with a low around 72. South wind 3 to 6 mph.

 

Tuesday
Sunny and hot, with a high near 99. West wind 5 to 8 mph.

 

Tuesday Night
Mostly clear, with a low around 75. West wind around 6 mph.

 

Wednesday
Mostly sunny, with a high near 88. North wind 6 to 8 mph.

 

Wednesday Night
Mostly cloudy, with a low around 65. The east wind is around 5 mph and becoming calm in the evening.

 

Thursday
Partly sunny, with a high near 80. Southeast wind 5 to 8 mph.

 

Thursday Night
A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 63. Southeast wind around 6 mph. The chance of precipitation is 30%.
