NEW: CDC Confirms 13th Case of Coronavirus in U.S.

The case was detected in California on a patient who was under a federal quarantine order after recently returning from Wuhan, China.
“CDC is conducting a thorough contact investigation of the person who has tested positive to determine contacts and to assess if those contacts had high-risk exposures,” writes the CDC in their press release.

The coronavirus outbreak began in December of 2019.
First American Dies from Coronavirus
This latest case of coronavirus in the U.S. comes just days after it was reported that the first American died from he coronavirus in Wuhan, China.
According to CNN, "60-year-old United States citizen had died from the virus at Jinyintian Hospital, in Wuhan, on February 6, according to the US Embassy in Beijing, marking the first confirmed death of a foreigner from the virus."
In addition, a Japanese citizen died in a Wuhan hospital, from what was suspected to be a case of the coronavirus.
A total of 1,018 people have died from the virus and 42,708 were infected in mainland China as of Tuesday, according to the World Health Organization.
The majority of new cases were recorded in Hubei province and its capital, Wuhan, the epicenter of the outbreak.
Authorities finished construction on a new hospital in Wuhan last week, and another is due to open in the coming days to treat the growing number of patients.
