NEW: Facebook, Instagram Down Across U.S.

There are widespread reports of Facebook — and Instagram — being down on Tuesday across the U.S. 

The website “Down Detector” reported that users began to post that they were unable to log in to the social media platforms starting around 10 AM.

"The service disruption follows a major outage in 2021, when Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp were down for more than six hours. At the time, Facebook, now Meta, said the outage was caused by “configuration changes on backbone routers.”

“We’re aware people are having trouble accessing our services. We are working on this now,” Meta spokesperson Andy Stone said in a post on the social media site X Tuesday.

The hashtags ”#instagramdown” and ”#facebookoutage” were trending on X Tuesday morning. Shares of Meta were down more than 1%."
