NEW: Flash Flood Watch Issued for RI Starting at Noon

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for parts of Rhode Island and southern New England. 

The advisory goes into effect at noon on Monday through Tuesday morning, with scattered thunderstorms expected in the afternoon and evening.

Rainfall could amount to more than an inch in areas.

TUESDAY MORNING...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* Portions of northern Connecticut, southeastern Massachusetts and
  northern Rhode Island, including the following areas, in northern
  Connecticut, Hartford CT, Tolland CT and Windham CT. In
  southeastern Massachusetts, Eastern Plymouth MA, Northern Bristol
  MA and Western Plymouth MA. In northern Rhode Island, Eastern Kent
  RI, Northwest Providence RI, Southeast Providence RI and Western
  Kent RI.

* From Noon EDT today through Tuesday morning.

* Scattered showers and thunderstorms will overspread the watch area
  this afternoon into the evening with the rain coming down heavy at
  times. Total rainfall is expected to range from 0.5 to 1.25
  inches, with locally higher amounts possible.

* The ground is wet from recent rainfall and the expected heavy
  rainfall may cause localized flash flooding especially in urban
  and poor drainage areas. Some smaller streams may quickly rise out
  of their banks.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
