UPDATED: Homicide in Providence - Victim Stabbed

Providence Police are investigating a homicide in the city on Monday.

According to police, a man was fatally stabbed on Bailey Court in Olneyville.

It is the city’s first homicide of the year.

Police said later on Monday evening that a suspect is in custody. 

On Tuesday morning, police released the following statement: 

Last night at approximately 1926 hours, Providence Police responded to Bailey Court for a reported Homicide.

As a result of this incident, Providence Police apprehended Junior Medina Agosto, age 30, and he was charged with Murder. Agosto will appear in court this afternoon.

The identification of the 36-year-old victim is pending notification of next of kin.
