One Dead After Monday Night Crash on I-195 in East Providence

Rhode Island State Police are investigating a fatal crash that took place on Interstate 195 in East Providence on Monday night.

The victim in the crash has been identified as Victor Pereira, 25, of Seekonk, Massachusetts.

According to RI State Police, troopers received a report of a car crash at approximately 9:12 p.m. on Interstate 195 East, just west of Exit 7, where a car exited the lane of travel and struck the rear of a construction truck in the breakdown lane.

The driver of the car was taken to Rhode Island Hospital and pronounced dead there.

The construction truck driver was not injured as a result of the crash.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
