Two People Stabbed in Providence Overnight

Providence police responded to multiple reports of stabbings in the city overnight. 

One incident occurred at Dexter Training Ground in the West End; another happened at a residence in Washington Park.

About Stabbings 

Police responded to a report of a stabbing at Dexter Street at Division Street shortly after 8 PM on Saturday. 

The victim — a male in his 30s — told police he was stabbed in his hand by a man while in the park. 

The victim was taken to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment; police say a suspect is in custody, who had a knife in his pocket. 

Shortly after midnight, police were called to the Park West Apartments on Montgomery Avenue for a report of a stabbing. 

Upon arrival, police said they observed a trail of blood in the apartment. 

The victim — a male in his 60s — told police he was stabbed in his hand by his girlfriend after returning home from a party. 

Police say a knife with blood on it was located at the scene and that they have a suspect in custody.
