Boxing Hall of Famer, Pasquale “Paddy” Read, of Bristol, Passes at 86

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Walter and Anna (Palumbo) Read.
Paddy was a constable for the Thomas Pearlman Law Firm for 40 years. He had a long and illustrious boxing career spanning from 1945-1970. During that time, he won many titles, both as an amateur and a professional, and was ranked 5th in the world in 1962. He was inducted into the Boxing Hall of Fame in 2005.
He is survived by his son, Pasquale Read; his daughters, Donna Richard, Patrizia Read and Rachel Read-DeSousa; his sisters, Anna DeLuca and Tomasina O’Neil, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was the father of the late Mark Read and brother of the late Walter Read.
Visiting hours will be Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence.
His burial will be private.
