Michael J. Jorge of Jamestown Dies at 64

Michael J. Jorge, 64, of Jamestown, died Thursday, August 10, 2023, at the Philip Hulitar Center. He was the husband of Jennifer Jaswell.

Born in Providence, RI, he was the son of the late Manuel, Jr. and Edith (Mederios) Jorge. Mike grew up in Pawtucket with many fond memories of his large extended Portuguese family. He lived in Jamestown, his cherished home, for the past 25 years.

 

Mike was a RISD graduate, class of 1982, and enjoyed a successful career as a photographer for several years. Later in life, Mike switched gears and became an electrician. He enjoyed a fulfilling career with Britain Electric for the past 10 years.

 

Mike’s innate sense of curiosity made him a natural conversationalist. His creative brain contributed to an uncanny wit, with a fabulous comedic outcome. Mike’s ingenuity could make a masterpiece out of any calamity.

 

Besides his wife, he leaves his brother, Manuel G. Jorge, III (wife, Robin) of Johnston, RI, and sister, Mary Ann Vieira (Husband, Paul) of Jamestown; and two nieces, and one nephew.

 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 am on Monday, August 14, 2023, at St. Mark Church, 60 Narragansett Ave., Jamestown. His interment will follow in St. Mark Cemetery, Jamestown.
