Retired Nurse at Kent County Hospital, Olison "Ollie" L. Best, Dies at 74

Ollie worked as a nurse for over 40 years at Kent County Hospital and then moved on to work as a home health nurse before retiring. She was a proud member of the Narragansett Indian Tribe. Her tribal name was Pasquesa, which means Running Water. She made ribbon shirts and wampum for the tribe, sang in Native Groups, and was a backup singer in the Native Drum Groups. You could always see her at the Powwows either dancing or selling her crafts. Ollie loved people. She was honest, kind, and always treated everyone as her own family.
She is survived by her children, Greg Best and his wife Laurie, Jerred Best and his wife Johnna, and Kris Best; her grandchildren, Alyssa, Jacob, Joey, Aric, Amanda, Kenya, Ethan; her siblings, Arthur Robinson, Jr., Rick Robinson, Donnie Robinson, Penny Robinson, Desi Robinson, Kim Robinson, Jody Robinson, and Dean Robinson; as well as many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Jay Robinson.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2022 from 10 am-12 pm followed by a service at 12 pm in Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St, Wakefield.
Burial will follow in the Narragansett Indian Cemetery, Charlestown.
