Scott C. Lavallee of Smithfield Dies 54

Scott C. Lavallee, 54, passed away suddenly on Saturday, February 24, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Elaina L. (Mercurio) Lavallee. Born in Providence and raised in Cumberland, he was a son of Lionel J. Lavallee, Jr. and Phyllis (Yasinczuk) Lavallee of Narragansett, RI and Venice, FL. Scott has resided in Smithfield, with his family, for the past thirteen years.

Scott was the loving father of Zachary C. Lavallee and Sophia R. Lavallee, both of Smithfield. He was the loving step-father of Robert J. Rebello and Amanda L. Lightbody and her husband Russell, all of Spring Hill, FL. He was the brother of Kimberly A. Gaboury and her husband Norman, Jennifer L. Pizzarelli and her husband Lewis, and Jason M. Lavallee and his wife Maureen, all of Cumberland. He was the uncle to many nephews and two great nieces. Besides his loving family, Scott will be missed by his adoring pups, Aiden and George.

 

Scott was a 1987 graduate of Cumberland High School. To his classmates and teammates, he was known as “Norm” or “Lev”. In 2022, he was inducted into the Cumberland High School Athletic Hall of Fame as a member of the 1987 Championship Hockey Team. He completed his undergraduate degree in Business Administration at Rhode Island College and The American College (National Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors) as a Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow. Scott has spent the last thirty years in the Insurance Industry as an Arbitrator, Litigation Examiner, Claims Specialist, Lead Sales Representative, and Risk Manager. For the past fifteen years, Scott worked for Comparion (Liberty) Insurance. Scott was affiliated with Capital Gains (BNI Networking Group) and the NAIFA (National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors).

 

Scott was an avid sports fan of all New England sports teams. He enjoyed volunteering his time coaching Smithfield Youth Sports for his son and daughter; as well as, his time spent volunteering at La Perche Elementary School events. Scott Lavallee devoted his life to others; he was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle “Butterscotch,” and cousin. Friendship with Scott was true, loyal, and life-long to his family, friends, and co-workers.

 

His funeral will be held Friday, March 1, 2024, at 8:45 am from the TUCKER-QUINN Funeral Chapel, 643 Putnam Pike, Greenville, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Michael Church, 80 Farnum Pike, Smithfield. Burial will be private. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 29, 2024, from 4:00 pm -7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any charitable donation be made to a scholarship fund for Scott’s daughter, Sophia R. Lavallee, ℅ Navigant Credit Union (1005 Douglas Pike, Smithfield, RI 02917).
