NEW: Morgan Launches "Remember in November" Campaign to Advocate for GOP Policies in RI

Former House Minority Leader and Republican gubernatorial candidate Patricia Morgan has launched a "Remember in November" campaign on Facebook to advocate for "conservative, Republican policies" ahead of the 2020 election cycle.

"I think Rhode Island needs this. Rhode Island needs to start talking -- our voters need to start to understand that our votes are causing Rhode Island to be what it is, their children leaving, their friends leaving," said Morgan. "And they don't make the connection between how they're voting and what’s happening on the ground with cost of living, quality of life. My goal is to make that connection."

"This is really policy-focused," said Morgan of launching the Facebook page. "I've said it for 8 or 9 years -- the Democrats are passing bad laws making us 50th, and people forget when they go to vote how these policies hurt their lives."

"Very few people are as policy-oriented as I am," said Morgan. "You see people talking about the Presidential race like it's a popularity contest — I wasn't the class president but I was treasurer."

Morgan, who garnered 40% of the vote in the 2018 GOP primary to Cranston Mayor Allan Fung's 56%, told GoLocal that she has "no plans" to run again this election cycle.

"This is about Rhode Island, but  I'm going to bring things about [President Donald] Trump in. We're talking about an uptick in employment. Sure, there are more Rhode Islanders working since 2006 -- but we had to wait, and how long we had to wait," she said.

"There will be correlations about what they've doing at the federal level, and in other states," said Morgan. "I'll start posting soon -- maybe not New Years' Day, but I intend to do one a day. Remember, I still work -- I have a family."

"This is not just about [truck] tolls here -- it's hundreds of thousands of little cuts. Each cut is a pebble in the shoe. And after a while you can't run," she said.

"I am working with the GOP. I'm a Republican -- I believe that conservative policies are what Rhode Island needs to have a good quality of life, and I will make the case on this [Facebook] page," she said.

"People feel that just because they've been voting Democrat for decades, that their hand will fall off if they vote for a Republican," said Morgan. "Trust me, it won't."
