Sue Stenhouse has announced that she will be running for Mayor of Warwick.

“I am very excited to announce that I have pulled Declaration papers to run for Mayor of the City of Warwick. Since Mayor Scott Avedisian's retirement, I have been inundated with calls of support to embark on this endeavor. I hope you will join our efforts! More to come in the days ahead,” said Stenhouse in a statement.

In 2016, Stenhouse resigned as Director of the Senior Enrichment Center in Cranston following an incident at a press conference in which a male bus driver was dressed up like an elderly woman.

The man was wearing earrings, lipstick, a wig and a dress, as well as, a name tag that said “Cranston Senior Home Resident.”

Stenhouse’s Career

Stenhouse previously served as a councilwoman in Warwick for seven years before running unsuccessfully to be secretary of state in 2006.

Prior to becoming executive director of senior services, she worked at the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce for two years.

Before that, she was the Director of Community Relations for Governor Donald Carcieri.
