Kuakumensah's 20 Points Lead Brown Past Bryant 69-62

The Brown Bears (4-6) defeated the in-state rival (1-5) Bryant Bulldogs 69-62 on Saturday night at the Pizzitola Center on the Brown Campus.

Brown took an 11 point lead into the locker room at half time and extended it to 15 on a couple of occasions in the second half. Bryant cut their deficit down to five points two separate times, however, the Bears made shots and free throws when they needed to down the stretch and Bryant was unable to get any closer.

The Brown Bears trailed for the majority of the first half before going on a 16-2 run with just over four minutes left to take a 41-30 lead into the locker room. 

Leading the way

Cedric Kuakumensash led the Bears with 20 points and 15 rebounds for a double-double while Steven Spieth added 12 points of his own and defended Dyami Starks the majority of the night. 

The Bulldogs were led by Starks who had 16 points in the game on five of 18 shooting from the field,  while Gus Riley pulled down eight rebounds off the bench. 

Next on the schedule

Next up for Bryant, they travel to Army on Tuesday, December 9 for a 7 p.m. game in hopes of snapping their four game losing streak. 

Meanwhile, the Brown Bears stay in-state to take on the Providence Friars on Monday, December 8 at 9 p.m. That game will be shown on Fox Sports 1.
