Joe Castiglione, Voice of the Boston Red Sox for Over Four Decades, Retires

Joe Castiglione, longtime radio announcer for the Boston Red Sox, announced his retirement on Sunday.

WEEI and the Red Sox recognized his career in a joint social media post, writing, “After 42 years as the voice of the Boston Red Sox Hall of Famer Joe Castiglione announces his retirement. Congratulations on a Hall of Fame career, Joe!”

Castiglione was the recipient of the 2024 Ford C. Frick Award, presented by the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum.

A cornerstone of Boston Red Sox radio, Castiglione served as the team’s radio play-by-play announcer since 1983.

Prior to joining the Red Sox, Castiglione began his broadcasting career with stints at various stations, including a notable period with the Cleveland Indians. 

His career has been marked by numerous accolades, including several Massachusetts Sportscaster of the Year awards.
