Sky Chiefs Set to Begin Playoff Run vs. Philly

The #8 (13-7) Providence Sky Chiefs will participate in some march madness of their own this weekend when they host the ABA Regional Championship at Brown University. 

“The Sky Chiefs have had a great inaugural season thus far, but there is still a lot of work to be done. We have a big goal to accomplish this weekend - to win the ABA Regionals and head back to Shreveport, LA  and compete for the ABA Championship,” said Sky Chiefs GM Tony Lopes.

The Sky Chiefs will host the #27 (8-5) Philadelphia Spirit on Saturday, March 21 at 5 p.m. The winner of that game will face the #5 Baltimore Hawks for the ABA Regional Championship on Sunday, March 22 at 2 p.m.

The winner of the Regional Championship will travel to Shreveport, LA to compete for the ABA Championship from April 6-13. 

The Philadelphia Spirit

The Spirit got themselves a spot in the regionals by defeating the North Carolina Coyotes 112-110 in the Northeast Divisional Championship. 

Sky Chiefs vs. Spirit - Last Meeting

In the last meeting between the two teams on December 20,  the Sky Chiefs defeated the Spirit 119-109. The Sky Chiefs were led in the game by Shane DaRosa who poured in a team high 23 points. 

DaRosa has been the go-to-guy for the Sky Chiefs all season, averaging 18  points per game and is one of seven Providence players averaging in double-figures. 

Playoff time 

The Sky Chiefs host the Spirit in the franchise's first ever playoff game in their first season. Game time is set for 5 p.m. and tickets will go on sale one hour before tip off.
